⁴ One thing^(A) I ask from the Lord,
    this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
    all the days of my life,^(B)
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
    and to seek him in his temple.

¹⁷ Your eyes will see the king^(A) in his beauty^(B)
    and view a land that stretches afar.^(C)

53 Who has believed our message^(A)
    and to whom has the arm^(B) of the Lord been revealed?^(C)
2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,^(D)
    and like a root^(E) out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
    nothing in his appearance^(F) that we should desire him.
³ He was despised and rejected by mankind,
    a man of suffering,^(G) and familiar with pain.^(H)
Like one from whom people hide^(I) their faces
    he was despised,^(J) and we held him in low esteem.

⁴⁷ “The Lord lives! Praise be to my Rock!
    Exalted^(A) be my God, the Rock, my Savior!^(B)

³⁵ Cry out, “Save us, God our Savior;^(A)
    gather us and deliver us from the nations,
that we may give thanks to your holy name,
    and glory in your praise.”

⁴⁶ The Lord lives!^(A) Praise be to my Rock!^(B)
    Exalted be God^(C) my Savior!^(D)

⁵ Why, my soul, are you downcast?
    Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
    for I will yet praise him,
    my Savior and my God.^(A)

¹¹ I, even I, am the Lord,^(A)
    and apart from me there is no savior.^(B)

⁷ But as for me, I watch^(A) in hope^(B) for the Lord,
    I wait for God my Savior;
    my God will hear^(C) me.
